The holiday poets society was founded in 2022 by Ari Ban, Claire Lefèvre and Kenneth Constance Loe. It is a series of intimate gatherings organised around the reading of poems in English and German. “We are hopeless romantics, word sluts, poetry nerds. We always follow the same structure: We start by sharing our texts and then we invite audience members to share their own poems if they feel like it. It is a proposition, never an obligation. All are welcome to join, listen and let our words echo gently within their ears.” The holiday poets society centres queer experiences and creates a caring space where those stories can land, resonate and be heard in their complexities.

Ari Ban (AT) is an illustrator, writer and garderobier, currently studying Sprachkunst at Die Angewandte. His main focus lies on researching queer history, particularly through studying biographies and collecting intimate details within them. This shift of attention towards the relational is Ari’s foundation for his work with drawing and text. He is part of the holiday poets society with Claire Lefèvre and Kenneth Constance Loe since 2022.

Claire Lefèvre (FR/AT) is a feminist choreographer, insomniac writer and reality TV enthusiast currently working in Vienna, Austria. She likes to think of herself as a hostess, welcoming collaborators and audience members into kitsch landscapes where politics and poetics are gently interwoven. Her use of text spans from poetry to academia, passing through performance criticism and flirting with stage-oriented formats such as stand-up comedy and songwriting. Her work has been published in PW-Magazine, TQW Magazine, and many more online hubs. In 2020 she printed a collection of short texts in the frame of her solo PEACHFUZZ. www.clairelefevre.com

Kenneth Constance Loe (SG/AT) is an artist, writer, performer, and proofreader from Singapore, currently based in Vienna, Austria. They are a collaborator of holiday poets society, a Vienna-based poetry collective, together with Ari Ban and Claire Lefèvre. His practice revolves around material and sensorial fetishes of desire, poetics of hospitality, body memory, queer ecologies, and other tangential thoughts through a performative collocation of sculpture, video, movement, text, and olfactory objects. Their poetry manuscript “sun-dried air” was a finalist of the 2022 Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prize. Their poetry has recently been published in “rivulet 10: sound barrier“ and the anthology “New Singapore Poetries” (Gaudy Boy, 2022). www.kennethloe.com
