In his RESIDENCY@Im_flieger, Evandro invites us to meet hope – not as an idea, but as a living presence that breathes, stumbles, laughs, and lingers. Through personal experiences, shared questions, and performative gestures, he explores how hope moves in the body and between us. Perhaps it appears through a whispered conversation over coffee, a memory triggered by a song, or the tremble of a body that continues dancing despite exhaustion.
What if hope could speak – what language would it use? Would it hum lullabies or shout in rhythm? Would it move fast or slowly trace a line across the spine?
This is not about naive optimism, but the kind of hope that resists extinction. It calls for action, it’s about doing the work! The kind that emerges even when the news is bad, when the struggle is real, when the future feels too far away. Hope, here, is not a concept to be defined, but a companion to be met – perhaps a potential dance partner.
In this research, Evandro’s process weaves personal events, communal inquiries, and movement. It listens. It holds space. It wonders: how can we hold hope without letting it slip through our fingers? How does the body carry it – clenched in fists or light in the chest? In a time when despair often shouts the loudest, this residency becomes a quiet rehearsal for resilience. A soft call across the noise: hope is still here. Let’s move with it.
