Im_flieger provides selected dance/performance artists space for 4 weeks, as well as fees for research and production, and offers choreographic and transmedia works a supportive environment: logistical assistance, artistic coaching as well as publication of the work-in-progress at the end of the residency.
Who can apply?
Artists based in Vienna working on a performative project or research in the field of dance and performance. Transdisciplinary and hybrid works with a focus on body-based practices are welcome. We provide residencies for 4–5 projects – as part of the four-year research focus on “Emerging Elderly Artists”, one residency is reserved for an ageing artist.
Support/conditions:
- Space for 4 weeks (approx. 4-5 hours/day, 80-100 hours in total)
- Location: Im_flieger, Bräuhausgasse 40, 1050 Vienna (U4 Pilgramgasse)
- In the timeframe of January to June 2027
- Fee: 1200 € (1 person), 1600 € (2 persons), 2400 € (from 3 persons)
- Technical support: max. 6h (we cannot consider projects with loud sound/music)
- Photo and video documentation
- Publication of the working results/work-in-progress in Vienna
- Artistic coaching: 10-15h (coach can be chosen by artist)
- Production consulting by Sophie Schmeiser: 2h (optional)
- Support for project applications by Claire Lefèvre: 2h (optional)
- Optional: INVESTIGATING MODES OF RESEARCH (Workshop). Anita Kaya, Laura Vilar and Luigi Guerrieri will facilitate a space over three days in January 2026 where the artists-in-residence can learn together through, from, and with their own research.
