Bladder Infection is a multimedia performance about disease, gender medicine, body history, and body perception. In collaboration with Daphne von Schrader and Evi Jägle, Oneka von Schrader interprets bladder infection using video, sound, objects, voice, and movement. Bacteria become sound archives, and the bladder is enlarged on stage – the result is a micro-media visual concert. The performance highlights injustices and inequalities in medicine and questions everyday bodily experiences under capitalism. This first work-in-progress presentation focuses on bacteria, which are constantly at work not only in the bladder but also around us, contributing significantly to the health of our bodies. In her artistic-scientific research, Schrader reflects on different strategies and methodologies for influencing and understanding these cultures.
Daphne von Schrader (AT) is a visual artist working across installation, performance, film, and sound. Her projects revolve around bacteria, health, and digestion, considering them as entangled processes within ecological, social, and personal contexts. Her works often emerge within artistic research projects, translating scientific questions into other sensory technologies and making speculative thought models tangible. Alongside her artistic practice, she is also active in curatorial work, as a member of several art and cultural associations, and as a filmmaker and camera operator.
Evi Jägle (AT) is a philosopher and video artist whose work is situated at the intersection of Deleuze Studies, poststructuralism, and artistic practice. Since 2019, she has been pursuing her PhD under Arno Böhler at the University of Vienna. In parallel, she studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Since 2024, she has been a research associate in the FWF-funded project Art as Philosophy – Philosophy as Art at the mdw. At the same time, she produces a wide range of lecture performances and video works including Seven Chambers of the Heart (brut nordwest, 2025), Alienation of Theory (Leipzig denkt Festival, 2024), and Rote Herzensangelegenheiten (Volkstheater Vienna, 2024).
Oneka von Schrader (AT) (she/her) works as a choreographer, performer, singer, and advisor. Her work has been shown at festivals such as Bâtard, Les Urbaines and ImPulsTanz (8:tension). She was part of the PARASOL dance group at TQW Vienna in 2023. Together with her sister, she is developing experimental concert formats under the name Schrader & Schrader. She is researching the interdependencies of art, disease, anatomy and feminism through the lens of conceptual somatics and dream work. Schrader studied choreography at SNDO Amsterdam and Shiatsu in Vienna.
