Independent Artists’ Association – Platform and Experimental Ground for Dance, Performance and related Art Forms

Yuko Kaseki

lives and works as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher in Berlin (1995-present). She studied Butoh Dance and Performing Arts in HBK Braunschweig with Anzu Furukawa and danced in her company Dance Butter Tokio and Verwandlungsamt (1989–2000). Yuko Kaseki founded – together with Marc Ates – the dance company cokaseki in 1995 and have been involved in various projects with musicians and visual artists. Solos and ensemble performances are performed throughout Europe, Japan, Canada and USA.
These works are based on Butoh Dance, western Contemporary Dance and Performance Technique to create concise and precise dreamlike dance theater. Cokaseki has developed its own rich choreographic vocabulary that is rhythmic and elegant – it follows the path. Desperate existence exposes tragicomedy in dense time and space to reveal a kaleidoscope of stories.

Yuko Kaseki organizes the improvisation serie AMMO-NITE GIG since 2004.
